Five year development plan

The Department of Microbiology of Iran University of Medical Sciences, with the interest of the faculty and committed experts and adhere to the principles of professional ethics, intends to plan goals in the next 5 years. This program is based on the needs of the community and the quality assurance of education in accordance with the standards of the International Day, scientific, cultural and research promotion of faculty members.

In this regard, attention to the approach of community education in human resource training, the creation of a quiet and dynamic learning environment, attention to the physical and mental health of teachers and students, the quantitative and qualitative upgrading of education and promotion of educational indicators such as the ratio of the number of teachers to the number of students Educational Field Indicators and Educational Assistance Equipment Index are among the main goals of this Department.

In order to accomplish this, the goals of the Department of Microbiology in the next 5 years (2018-2023) will be divided into three categories of educational, research and executive objectives:

A) Educational goals:

  • Upgrading the quality of medical education and postgraduate education.
  • E-Learning Development (New Sciences and Technology of Medical Sciences).
  • Establishing scientific communication with clinical departments.  (implementing at least 5 joint theses with clinical departments)
  • Attract at least 2 faculty members.
  • At least 80% of graduate postgraduate students admit to a PhD.
  • Compilation of at least one comprehensive book of microbiology as a national reference.
  • Educational Orientation Based on the Entrepreneurial Capability of Ph.D. Graduates.

 

B) Research Objectives:

  • Establishment of at least two research centers in the field of Applied Microbiology. (in terms of knowledge transcription)
  • Establishment of at least 2 national or international patents.
  • Launching research lines.
  • Microbial communication with various diseases.
  • Bacteriophage bank creation and Phage therapies
  • Provide study opportunities for faculty colleagues. (at least 2 people)
  • Scientific relationship with other research centers in the world. (at least 2 memorandums with 2 prestigious scientific centers in the world)
  • Annual publication of at least 5 ISI articles per faculty member.
  • Production of native probiotics for medical and industrial use.

 

C) Executive objectives:

  • The presence of colleagues in the faculty at the university's hospitals labs.
  • Launch of the cell culture laboratory of the Department of Microbiology.
  • Development of physical space of the department in cooperation with the School of Medicine.
  • Creating opportunities to provide specialized services to other national institutions and organizations.
  • Creation and development of microbial bank.

   -  The material and spiritual support of the university and faculty of the department's goals.

Challenges:

  • Lack of physical space for department development.
  • Lack of funds to purchase future equipment.
  • The lack of study opportunities for members of the scientific community.
  • Lack of college faculty members and graduate students in health centers.
